Colombia

Colombia is a country full of life, rich in music, and bursting with natural diversity! With six distinct regions, as cliché as it sounds, there truly is something for everyone in Colombia.
From the Amazon to the Caribbean, snow capped mountains to the desert, the diversity is truly awe inspiring.

While it is a hiking enthusiast and bird watchers paradise, it also offers up much for those with an interest in history, architecture, safari, flora and fauna, orchids, gastronomy, cycling, water sports, and whale watching. And then there is the little crop you may have heard they are famous for...chocolate! Okay, kidding, yes it's coffee! But equally important is their chocolate.

Colombia is serious about conservation and has 61 National Parks and Protected areas with the newest just being establish in December of 2023. These protected areas equal an impressive one sixth of the entire country.

Colombia is home to 130,000 species of plants with more endemic species than anywhere else in the world. Included in that is the most orchid species in one country, a whopping 4270 species of orchids! Suitably, the national flower of Colombia is the Cattleya orchid.

In addition to having the most plant species they also have the most bird species in the world (1958+), Colombia is also home to Giant Anteaters, Spectacled Bears, Caimans, Capybaras, Pink Dolphins, Harpy Eagles, Crab eating Foxes, Monkeys, Olinguitos, Pumas, Tapirs, Amazon River Turtles, and Whales, just to name a few!

Unique to Colombia is the Cotton-Top Tamarin, it is the only country in the world where you can find this primate in the wild. The Cotton-Top Tamarin is also one of the most endangered primates in the world.
